Garden Grove Woman Suspected Of Lighting Trees On Fire

A Garden Grove woman was arrested on suspicion of setting multiple fires Wednesday night cops say. Witnesses saw her lighting trees on fire.

GARDEN GROVE, CA — The Santa Ana police department announced the arrest of a woman seen lighting trees on fire, Wednesday evening.

"A 36-year-old Garden Grove woman was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of setting a series of fires in Santa Ana last night that knocked out power in the neighborhood," Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Marilyn Fajardo was booked on suspicion of arson and was being held in Orange County Jail on $20,000 bail.

The flames spread to storage containers and a Southern California Edison utility pole at a construction site, knocking out power in the neighborhood, Bertagna said.

Orange County Fire Authority firefighters quickly doused the flames and Fajardo was arrested, Bertagna said. Edison restored power to the area, he said.
