Heat Wave Coming To Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- A strong Santa Ana weather system is expected to drive Southern California temperatures back into the mid 90s by midweek, meaning turkey won't be the only thing roasting this Thanksgiving. Winds are predicted to pick up to 35 miles per hour at wind-prone canyons and mountains Sunday evening, along the Interstate 5 corridor. They will intensify and spread to the coast Monday.

The big impact, however, will be dry, dessicating air moving out of the deserts and compressing through the mountain gaps. The NWS says temperatures will be 20 degrees above normal by Wednesday.

Highs of 95 degrees will be hit by Wednesday in the region.

Air that is almost that hot will confront bakers of Thanksgiving turkeys on Thursday, the NWS said.
