High School Seniors Needed for College Essay Prep Demo

Attention high school seniors! Are you applying to college this fall? Do you need some direction for your essay? Participants are needed for a College Application Essay Brainstorming Demonstration to be held Saturday, July 23, from 3 to 4:30 at the Central Library in Huntington Beach.

Are You the One?

One lucky senior will receive one-on-one personalized coaching and leave ready to write with a great topic. The rest will leave with new ideas to kick start their own brainstorming. Parents welcome to attend, but your student must be present and ready to participate.

Freewrite

Freewriting is one of the most popular brainstorming techniques for generating topic ideas. Oh but, we won’t be doing that. Still, you should have pen and paper with you, in case you want to take notes and try some ideas from the demo at home.

Talk is Cheap

So, if we are not freewriting, what are we doing? Just talking. Plain and simple. Through my years of teaching and tutoring teens, I found that the best way to pick a topic for your common application essay isn’t by writing about it. It’s by talking about it!

I ask the questions. You give the answers. Together, we meander through the roadmap of your life, following each little path to see where it might take us. The longer we talk, the closer we get to your topic. It’s that easy.
