High Surf Advisory For Seal Beach Through Saturday

A high surf advisory was released for Orange County through Saturday afternoon. The surf will build Thursday through Saturday.

SEAL BEACH, CA — The National Weather Service released a high surf advisory on Thursday afternoon.

A moderate-sized west swell from 290 degrees will produce high surf along the beaches of Orange County and San Diego Counties through Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

Surf will build Thursday, peak on Friday, and slowly lower on Saturday. The advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday.

Surf is expected to build to 4 to 8-feet Thursday, the NWS said.

The surf will peak at 5- to 9-feet on Friday and lower back to 4- to 8-feet on Saturday, they said, with highest sets on exposed west facing beaches.

High tides on Friday will be around 4.7 feet between 1 and 3 a.m.

"Dangerous swimming conditions due to high surf and stronger rip currents are expected," they said. "Waves may overtop jetties."

With the high surf advisory, high surf will affect beaches throughout Orange County, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
