City offices will be closed for New Year's Day today, which will affect trash collection and street sweeping in some communities.
City of Los Alamitos
The City of Los Alamitos will be closed for the holiday but will reopen on Tuesday.
There will be no change in street sweeping or trash pick up this week. Street sweeping will take place on Tuesday and Friday, and trash collection will be on Thursday.
City of Seal Beach
The City of Seal Beach will be closed for the holiday but will reopen on Tuesday after having been closed since Dec. 23.

Post Office
The post office will be closed today for the holiday and will reopen Tuesday.
Christmas Tree Disposal
Free Christmas tree pickup is in effect now through Jan. 13 in Seal Beach and Los Alamitos. Just put your tree by the curb with all ornaments and stands removed, and Consolidated Disposal Service will take them away. Also, do not put them inside the trash or recycle bins. Any trees taller than six feet must be cut in half. If you have questions, you can call Consolidated Waste Disposal at 800-299-4898.
