How to Organize Your Kitchen: Five Tips that Work

How much space do you have in your kitchen? I'm sure, most women will say, "Not enough!" And it's true.

No matter how large is the kitchen, most of us still find it difficult to keep there all the cooking stuff, groceries, kitchenware, home appliances and many other things we deem necessary for this place. I also was one of those housewives who had all the cabinets full and could not find the right pan when needed. Luckily, one day I came across an article on house organizing in a magazine. Since then, all my rooms have changed. Now I know exactly what I have and where I have it. The recommendations featured in this magazine article have helped me to improve my life, so today I want you to improve your life as well. Here are a few tips that work for me, and I’m sure they will work for you, too.

Tip #1 is to have the stuff you use most often close at hand. If you are a tea lover, keep your mugs hung at a visible place. The best way to store knives is to put them on a magnetic holder, and all your pan leads can be stored on the inside of buffet doors with the help of wire closet racks. Another way to use a magnet in the kitchen is a magnetic spice holder. You can easily make your own with a sheet of steel, spice jars, glue and a magnet panel.

Tip #2 is to organize housewares according to the activities they are used for. I have a drawer with all my baking devices, like cake tester and pastry brush. I also made a special box for my tea and different additives to it (cinnamon, vanilla, honey). And last but not least is a place for all the cleaning products, a separate big drawer far from foodstuff.

Tip #3 is to use carousel storage for cooking pots. It is very convenient if you have a cupboard of an irregular form, triangular or round. This kind of storage makes it easy for you to get access to the far corners of your cupboard. Besides, it looks very modern and cool. And don’t think it has to be specifically designed and expensive. On the contrary, there are standard models that can be installed in most furniture.

Tip #4 is for moms who need to cook breakfast for their children in the morning when every minute is precious. I call it a breakfast container. I make it in the evening and put there all the ingredients for the meal I plan to cook next morning. For example, if I want to cook pancakes, I put in a container all the ingredients: some jam or syrup, and even a whisk.

Tip #5 I actually borrowed from my friend Nick. He is a blogger and currently works as a writer for one writing service blog. Sometimes, when there is an urgent order, Nick has to work even at night. In order to be able to work effectively, he drinks coffee. As Nick doesn’t have a lot of time to spend preparing it, he came up with a nice idea of home-made instant coffee. It is a can with coffee, sugar and milk-powder. So, when he needs to make coffee quickly, Nick just takes a spoon or two of this mixture and adds some water and “voila!” Looking at the wonderful work he does for the company, home-made instant coffee is really a catch.
