Just Days Until Disneyland Attractions Close to Make Way for Star Wars Land
Will your favorite spots be closed for good?

Not only is the Force strong at the box office, itās flexing itās muscles at Disneyland where it will push out a handful of classic attractions in early January to make room for Disneylandās largest ever expansion, the 14-acre Star Wars Land.
You have just a handful of days left to experience classic Disneyland attractions including Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland, Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch petting zoo and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree.
The Big Thunder attractions will close permanently Jan. 10. There will also be a handful of temporary closures to accommodate the construction work. Temporary closures will include the Mark Twain Riverboat, Pirateās Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, the Disneyland Railroad and the Davy Crockett Canoes.

In August, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the major addition to the Anaheim theme park that will be based on themes and characters from the lucrative movie franchise. He called the new land āour largest single-themed land expansion ever.ā
It will include a ride that will allow visitors to take control of the Millennium Falcon, the spaceship from George Lucasā original 1977 film. Another attraction will drop guests into āa climactic battle between the First Order and the resistance.ā
Stores and restaurants in the new area will all conform to the theme as well, including a reproduction of the 1977 filmās famed ācantinaā bar. A similar 14-acre Star Wars land will be built at Disneyworldās Hollywood Studios theme park in Orlando, Fla. No timeline was given for the projectāsā completion.
