Landing Jets at Long Beach Airport Creating Noise Pollution
An article describing Long Beach Airport and Jet Blue Profiting at the expense of a community on Huntington Beach under the approach path.

On July 22, we, the neighbors of Huntington Beach, hold the first meeting about the noise of airplanes landing at Long Beach airport at the central library.
There was a report commissioned by the city about the noise generated by airplanes overflying the community, however, the report is 10 years old from 2007 and nothing was done after the report was generated.
The noise is real and the frequency of flights increased in the last 10 years.

One of the recommendations mention on that report was that the planes had to fly at 2100 feet above sea level at Bolsa Chica and Edinger, This will curtail the noise considerably. However sometimes planes fly between 13 and 16 hundred feet.
We are gathering momentum with people joining our group. Our purpose is not to shut down the airport but our goal is:

- Mitigate the noise by airplanes flying at no less than 2100 feet ASL at the intersection of Bolsa Chica and Edinger. Or any other change that will achieve the same result.
- Establish a curfew at 10 pm and a strict hard curfew at 11pm. No more landings of any carriers after that time unless it is an emergency.
This is not going to stop or interrupt operation at Long Beach airport but airlines will have to operate in a stricter schedule.
Right now the only ones that benefit from these operations is the city of Long Beach and the airline that, by the way, is the only one that violated noise ordinances and was late past the curfew is Jet Blue. They had 3 noise violations per month in 2015, now in 2017 it is bordering in 25 infractions per month with landings as late as 2am. (The curfew at Long Beach Airport is 10 PM to 7 AM)
If this is to continue unchecked, can you imagine what the noise environment will be in 15 years time? Our property values will fall and we will be showing hypertension and high blood pressure due to the noise. Huntington Beach will be transformed in another city like Compton, Inglewood and Southgate which are directly under the path of landing planes at LAX and people cannot sale their properties because they are undervalued.
These are legitimate concerns of the Huntington Beach community.
We would like to present our case to the FAA and Long Beach Airport and perhaps come to an agreement.
Presently we are contacting the city of Huntington Beach to help us schedule the meeting.
