"I'm deeply humbled and honored that we would be chosen as America's Favorite Show Choir," said Moellenkamp. "We have incredibly hard-working students, a great artistic team, supportive parents, and a supportive booster club and administration. All of that combined is a recipe for success!”
“I’d also like to thank PARADE for recognizing us and for shedding light on the importance of music education,” he added.

This is the second time SoundFX has been recognized by PARADE. In 2010, SoundFX was named one of the Top 10 Favorite Choirs in America, but did not win the #1 spot.
PARADE is distributed in more than 600 Sunday newspapers across America and has a readership of 69 million people.
SoundFX is one of seven choirs under the direction of David Moellenkamp at Los Alamitos High School. The combined choirs boast of close to 400 performers who have been recognized numerous times for their outstanding performances. SoundFX was named a show choir national champion in 2010, capturing the title during a visit to the Show Choir
Nationals in New York City. Soundtrax, Los Al’s girls advanced choir, was named a national champion in 2011. Overall, the choirs in the program have earned 39 First Place and National Championship awards in competitions over the past five years alone.
