Los Al Police to 'Ticket' Do-Gooders with Slurpee Freebies
It pays to be good in Los Alamitos where police will award slurpee freebies to children caught committing acts of goodness in the community.

Crime doesn’t pay, but good deeds do in Los Alamitos.
Los Alamitos will begin “ticketing” kids spotted doing good deeds around town with 7-Eleven coupons for free slurpees.
The good-deed rewards are part of Operation Chill, a program begun in 1995 for police officers around the country to celebrate good will within their communities. Since it began, nearly 14 million Operation Chill coupons have been awarded.

The Los Alamitos Police Department expects to hand out 500 Operation Chill coupons through the summer and beginning of the school year. The coupons can be redeemed anytime before Dec. 31.
“As a police department that prides itself on its service to the community, we wanted to do something that positively rewards the good behavior of our youth,” said Los Alamitos Police Department Capt. Bruce McAlpine. “This is a fantastic way to accomplish this and helps our officers connect with kids.”
