Los Alamitos Announces Merit Award Winners
Honored at the event were the Superintendent of Los Alamitos Unified School District and the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA ā The annual CPRS District 10 Banquet was held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 in Laguna Woods and Dr. Sherry Kropp, Superintendent of Los Alamitos Unified School District and the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base, represented by Brigadier General John W. Lathrop, were honored with the 2019 Volunteer Merit Awards.
California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) is a state-wide organization for parks, recreation, and community services agencies and is broken up into districts. The City of Los Alamitos is a member of District 10 which incorporates all of Orange County and parts of Los Angeles County.
The Los Alamitos Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Commission nominated and voted for both Dr. Sherry Kropp and the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base for the honor. The Volunteer Merit Award recognizes an individual or organization for their contribution to the community.

Dr. Sherry Kropp provides exceptional leadership and leads with a heart for children and inspires others to believe in unlimited possibilities. She is committed to creating positive relationships within the community and does all that she can to support the City of Los Alamitos.

The Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base has partnered with the City of Los Alamitos for over 30 years with the 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular and 20 years for Race on the Base. The Joint Forces Training Base is a true community partner to the City of Los Alamitos.
