Los Alamitos Car Pursuit Ends, Passenger Found With Gunshot Wound

A pursuit from Stanton to Los Alamitos ended in the driver's arrest after authorities discover a woman inside the car had been shot.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A Foothills Ranch man was arrested and a woman was found shot after a car pursuit from Stanton to Los Alamitos, Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital in "fair condition" after being shot in the leg, OCSD spokesman Todd Hylton said.

The man, Johnell Jackson, mid-30s, Foothill Ranch, was driving the car was placed under arrest at the scene as he was a parolee at large, and pimping and pandering.

He was not thought to be involved in the shooting, Braun said.

Deputies responded late Tuesday to a shots-fired call at Starr Street and Beach Boulevard, Braun said.

Witnesses described the vehicle from where they believed the shots came, and the suspect fled after deputies tried to detain the vehicle, Braun said.

The pursuit ended at Katella Avenue and Los Alamitos Boulevard in Los Alamitos. There, deputies discovered an adult woman in the vehicle with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity.

The investigation is ongoing, and she is still hospitalized.
