'All Clear' Issued After Los Alamitos H.S. Evacuations
A "suspicious backpack" was found Thursday morning on the campus at the Cerritos Avenue school, police said.
LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Students and staff returned to class at Los Alamitos High School following an evacuation Thursday morning when a "suspicious backpack," later deemed "harmless," was found on campus, the Los Alamitos Police Department said.
The school's resource officer was told of the backpack at about 8:30 a.m., which prompted the evacuation as "a precautionary safety measure," officials said, adding that the "all clear" was issued shortly after 10 a.m. after the Orange County sheriff's bomb squad determined the bag's contents were "harmless."
"It was a misplaced backpack that caused concern but has been deemed to be no threat by law enforcement," school officials said.
