Should The City Of Los Alamitos Allow The High School To Rename Their City Street Sign?
Will the Los Alamitos City Council agree to a name change for the driveway of Los Alamitos High School to Griffins Way?

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Los Alamitos High School is lobbying for a street name change for the high school's driveway in a resolution to be voted upon in the next city council session.
The Los Alamitos high school has suggested that the city consider renaming and replacing the overhead street name sign to "Griffins Way" in a proposal known as Resolution 2021-21.
That proposal will go before City Council on Tuesday and be put up for a vote.

Currently, Los Alamitos High School sits unassumingly at the corner of Los Alamitos H.S. and Cerritos Avenue.
Though the signage is accurate, it isn't quite enough to capture the Griffin school spirit, proponents of the resolution say. Changing the name could further school spirit on campus, but others are concerned it could cause problems with emergency services unfamiliar with the name change.

If the city council agrees to the name change, the city engineer will see that the new street is acknowledged with the proper signage, and emergency service providers will be alerted of the change, the city clerk says. Residents are invited to speak on the renaming during public comments by emailing your intent to speak to cityclerk@cityoflosalamitos.org, with the subject line “PUBLIC COMMENT ITEM #” (insert the item number relevant to your comment)
