Los Alamitos High School Wins Big, Heading To CIF Track and Field
Big congratulations were in order for the orange County Champions of Los Alamitos High School that swept all after an undefeated season.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — When it comes to Track and Field in Orange County, Los Alamitos High School sprinted ahead this season.
The Orange County Champion Los Alamitos HS Varsity Boys and a young Varsity Girls Track and Field Team led the Junior Varsity and Freshman, Sophomore Teams to a sweep of all six Sunset League titles.
“This season has been really special as we have had an undefeated season,” said Head Coach Nathan Howard. “Winning each dual meet is hard enough, let alone on each level. Then to maintain focus and sweep league finals in all levels shows the resolve and commitment that the team has. I am impressed with our athletes and our coaching staff. The hard work and dedication they have shown is incredible.”

“This is the first time I can remember where a team has won each of the three levels for both genders. Then taking into account the boys winning Orange County Championships makes this season one of the most special,” Howard said.
Three Griffin boys were multiple varsity event champions with senior Jose Rubio winning the 110m and 300m hurdles, long jump and contributing to the 4x100m relay with seniors Adhre Sparks, Ryan Ayale and Chris Howard.

The varsity girls were led by junior field event specialist Faimalie Sale who won both the shot put and discus throw and senior Kallie Given who won the high jump.
Junior middle distance runner Delaney Sanacore clearly separated herself from the field to win both the 800m and 1600m.
Senior sprinter Caroline DeSmet won the 400m and contributed to the 4x400m relay win with freshman Olivia Velasco, sophomore Danielle Limp and junior Lauren Willingham. Willingham also won the 300m hurdles.
The Griffins also won the 4x100m relay with a team of Limp, sophomore Sydnee Kolster, and juniors Rachel Hermann and Jade Galloway.
Varsity event winners plus the second and third place finishers meeting qualifying standards will move on to the CIF Southern Section Division 1 preliminaries meet at Trabuco Hills HS on Saturday, May 13. Events begin at noon.
