Los Alamitos Offers Day Camp for Friday's School Furlough

Friday is the first school furlough day of the year, but the city is offering a day camp for students.

Friday marks the Los Alamitos Unified School District’s first school furlough day of the year. To help working families, the city is offering affordable day camp for children between the ages of 5 and 15-years-old.

Due to budget cutbacks, there will be four more school furlough days this school year including May 27, June 16 and 17. The city’s recreation and community services department will offer day camp for each furlough day. However, space is limited, so parents are encouraged to register now. The day camp includes games, arts and crafts, movies and outdoor activities. Students will need to bring their own sack lunches.

The camp’s regular hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $25 per child and $30 per child for the extended hours from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Register online at www.ci.los-alamitos.ca.us or contact the Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department at (562) 430-1073.
