Measure M Funding Awarded These OC Cities For Reducing Water Pollution

Cypress takes reducing water pollution seriously, according to the OCTA, who awarded them Measure M funding, Monday.

CYPRESS, CA — Heard of "only rain down the drain?" Cities like yours, across Orange County, are aiming to improve water quality and reduce pollution caused by transportation. On Monday over $3 million in grant money was awarded to 16 cities across Orange County that aim to reduce transportation-related pollution to water received from the OC Transportation Board Authority.

The money comes from Measure M, a half-cent sales tax approved by Orange County voters in 2006 that funds a variety of transportation improvements according to officials.

The board reviewed 24 applications from 21 cities and approved funding for 16 projects. Many of the projects involve the installation of catch basins and screens.
