Murder, Suicide Culprit Identified, Coroner Says

Two identified in this murder/suicide near Los Alamitos.

LAKEWOOD, CA — A man who authorities say fatally shot and killed a girl, and them himself Sunday was identified by Los Angeles County Coroner's office on Tuesday.

The bodies of the man and his ex-girlfriend were found about 3:25 p.m. Sunday in their Lakewood home, located in the 5900 block of Pepperwood Avenue according to police.

The man was identified as 27-year-old Austin McQuade, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said. Winter previously identified the woman as 26-year-old Miranda Walton.

Deputies went to the location in response to a call reporting that a woman was screaming for police, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Aura Sierra.

"Once inside, they found the man and woman on the floor suffering from gunshot wounds," Sierra said. "They were pronounced dead at the scene."

A friend of the victim disclosed with Patch that McQuade was an estranged ex-boyfriend of Walton.
