Music Teacher Coralie Prince Retires

One of the founders of music education in LAUSD, she helped write district music curriculum

Mrs. Coralie Prince recently announced her retirement after 34 years of teaching in Los Al. She headed the music programs at both Hopkinson and Lee Elementary Schools, which included grade level performances, school musicals, 4th & 5th grade chorus, recorder band, and Special Person’s Day. She coached the vocalists for the LAUSD Elementary Jazz Band and served on a number of school, district, and regional committees for arts education. This spring, she was presented with the Irene Schloepfle Perpetual Award for “exceptional merit and life-long dedication to music education” by the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators of the OC Department of Education.
