New Year's Resolutions

As this year comes to a close, it’s time to look ahead to 2014. How can you make 2014 a better year than the last? Are you going to lose X-amount of weight, or quit smoking? Do you plan on saving money and getting out of debt? Any way you look at it, health and fitness can improve all of your new year's goals.

Losing Weight

-The most effective way to lose unwanted weight is with a combination of diet and exercise. Simple energy intake and expenditure calculations will get you to your target body weight in no time.  The key is creating the habit of control and good choices.

-Making a nutrition plan and eliminating all the processed foods from your current diet will help decrease body fat mass.  Processed foods are those, which are shelf stable or convenience based such as any boxed snack, enhanced with refined sugars, microwave dinners or other food claim product.

-Exercising regularly and efficiently for 30-60 minutes several days a week will increase your lean muscle mass and decrease fat mass.  This is particularly true if done under the direct supervision of a professional, certified trainer.

-Have someone else hold you accountable! Getting a personal trainer, coach, or workout buddy will help you maintain the new years motivation through the entire year.

Saving Money

-A proper nutrition plan can help you save money each week/month. Grocery shopping instead of eating out can reduce your daily costs of food tremendously. Plan your weekly meals out in advance, and even cook some of them beforehand so you can take your lunch to work instead of spend money.

-Exercise regularly, sleep right, and manage stress to avoid health problems. We can all avoid doctor visits and cost of illness by taking care of ourselves first. The cost of medicine, health care can really add up if we aren’t healthy. If you aren’t well enough to work, you’re losing money!

Get a Better Job

-Studies show that attractive people tend to earn on average more than below-average looks. Better looking people tend to sell more products and attract more customers. What better way to become more appealing than working out? We’re not saying looks are everything. Go into fields that you enjoy and have a genuine interest for it. The emotional upgrade and confidence boosting result of exercising can help you even more than looking better. If you have a job interview, try getting an early morning workout in beforehand and see how much better you’ll feel going into it.
