OC Soccer Coach Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Minor; Police Seek Details

The Los Angeles-based soccer coach was arrested on suspicion of lewd acts with a child Tuesday.

WESTMINSTER, CA — A Los Angeles-based high school soccer coach was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting an underage person in Westminster.

Norwalk resident Michael Avila, 20, was arrested on suspicion of molesting the victim in February in the 13500 block of Edward Street, according to the Westminster Police Department.

The victim's gender was not released.

According to police, Avila also coaches at high schools in Los Angeles.

He was arrested in Norwalk Tuesday on suspicion of lewd acts with a child, contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex offense, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, and possession of child pornography, police said.
