Pedestrian Fatally Struck In Anaheim Crosswalk, DUI Suspected
A resident of Orange has died and another man is under arrest, a result of the crash, officials say.
ANAHEIM, CA — A resident of Orange wearing a security guard uniform was struck and killed early Wednesday morning, Anaheim police reported.
Officers responded to the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue shortly before 1:15 a.m.
The victim was at a marked crosswalk where he was struck, and the suspect's vehicle, a white Astro van, was discovered about a block away. That vehicle crashed head-on into a palm tree in front of the Islander Inn and Suites at the 400 block of W. Katella Ave., said Anaheim police Sgt. Jacob Gallacher.

The suspect — a 38-year-old man from Norwalk whose name was not immediately released — was taken to a hospital to treat serious injuries, Gallacher said. When he is medically cleared, he is expected to be booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, the sergeant said.
Investigators were working to confirm the victim's identity. According to reports from the scene, the man was in his 50s and is believed to have lived in Orange.

Though he was wearing what seemed to be a security guard's uniform, it was not clear if he worked as a security guard, Gallacher said.
The victim, who was walking southbound in a crosswalk of Harbor and was "thrown quite a distance" when the suspect drove through a red light and struck him, Gallacher said.
