Police Warn Los Alamitos Residents Of New Scam
The Los Alamitos Police Department wants residents to be aware of a scam circulating the community.
LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A new telephone scam has surfaced in the Orange County community.
According to the Los Alamitos Police Department, community members have reported scammers posing as representatives with the city's police department in an attempt to steal personal information from unsuspecting residents.
The scammers will likely use fictitious names and badge numbers, and in some cases, the caller ID may appear as "City of Los Alamitos" or "Los Alamitos Police Department," authorities said.

"These calls are fraudulent in nature," the department said in a statement. "Please remember that scammers can manipulate caller ID information to appear legitimate. If you receive a similar phone call, do not provide any personal or financial information."
