The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission, and Traffic Commission jobs are open the city says. Members will serve a 3-year term.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — With a new year comes new opportunity for residents of Los Alamitos. If you love art shows, city events and even if you have traffic gripes, it's time to consider what it takes to make things happen in your home town.

Openings are available for those who are willing to serve their community in the coming year.

Notice was given that applications were being accepted for the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Commission as well as the Traffic Commission.

Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Commission:

  • A seven member commission.
  • Meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
  • Responsible for advising the city council in matters pertaining to public recreation and parks, including problems, programs, making new policies and programming yearly events to promote fine arts.
  • One term position is open, expires December, 2020

Traffic Commission:

  • A seven member commission.
  • Meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m.
  • Responsible for reviewing complaints, requests and suggestions regarding traffic safety.
  • Makes recommendations to the city council.
  • One term position, expires December, 2022.

Who is able to apply? Anyone who is a registered voter of the city, who does not hold a salaried public office of employment within city government, and have not been convicted of a crime.
