Shark Sighting Closes Sunset Beach In Orange County Monday

Huntington Beach officials reported that Sunset Beach would be closed "out of an abundance of caution" due to a shark sighting.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — One Orange County beach was closed after a shark sighting was reported on Monday, Huntington Beach city officials said in a statement.

The shark was spotted off the shore of Sunset Beach, just two miles from the neighboring Surfside community. The sighting prompted officials to close Sunset Beach at around 2 p.m. for "the next several hours."

Sunset Beach is located between Warner Avenue and Anderson Street in Huntington Beach.
