Man Struck, Killed On I-5

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – A male was killed when he was struck by a vehicle on the San Diego (5) Freeway in San Clemente, authorities said Monday.

The incident was reported at 11:52 p.m. Sunday on the southbound San Diego Freeway at Avenida Calafia, according to the California Highway Patrol. Witnesses reported he may have jumped in front of the vehicle.

A SigAlert was issued at 12:10 a.m. shutting down lanes 2, 3 and 4 and the Avenida Calafia on-ramp. They were reopened at 2:27 a.m.
