Seal Beach Closes Parks, Beaches During Coronavirus Pandemic

The city of Seal Beach has closed multiple areas to the public it was announced this week.

SEAL BEACH, CA — The city of Seal Beach has joined Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach in the closure of multiple public spaces this week. Over the weekend, an influx of visitors arrived at the Seal Beach pier, beaches and city parks.

"Although Gov. Newsom's stay at home order allows for outdoor activities, such as walking and exercising, it specifies that everyone outside of one household should maintain a separation of at least six feet," Sgt. Nick Nicholas of the Seal Beach Police Department wrote. "As people congregate on our beaches and the pier, the opportunity for the spread of infection is increased."

In response to so many not heeding Gov. Gavin Newsom's call to "stay at home" and comply with "social distancing," the Seal Beach Director of Emergency Services ordered that several parks and public spaces be closed until further notice:
