Seal Beach Fatal Collision: Woman Identified

A Hawaiian Gardens woman was identified as the victim in a Seal Beach fatal collision over the weekend.

SEAL BEACH, CA — A 22-year-old woman from Hawaiian Gardens who was killed in a crash in which a vehicle caught fire on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Seal Beach was identified Saturday by the Orange County coroner's office.

The crash that claimed the life of Joanna Leyva was reported at just after 1:45 a.m. Friday, near Seal Beach Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Leyva's vehicle slammed into a sign, causing the car and the sign to catch fire, according to a report from the scene.

Leyva died at the scene, according to the CHP. No other injuries were reported.
