Seal Beach Shooting, High Speed Chase Overnight Ends With Arrest
A police presence remains after an officer-involved shooting overnight led to a pursuit from Seal Beach, ending at Garden Grove Boulevard.

SEAL BEACH, CA āPolice activity was ongoing Friday morning on the 22 Freeway after a shooting and freeway chase through Seal Beach. Valley View Street was still closed as of 8 a.m. and traffic remained heavy on the 22 Freeway following the incident.
Just after midnight, California Highway Patrol officer shut down the 22 Freeway after a police chase and officer-involved shooting, authorities say. California Highway Patrol officers reported that just after 12:30 a.m., Seal Beach Officers identified a car that had earlier been involved in an assault on a peace officer. Seal Beach police attempted to pull over the car, and the driver fled, leading to a pursuit along the SR-22 Freeway.
"The vehicle entered SR022 westbound, and was involved in a collision in the area of Valley View Street," CHP officer Mitch Smith reported. "Officers attempted to take the driver into custody, when an officer involved shooting occurred."

The car evaded officers once again, and became involved in a second crash at Garden Grove Boulevard, west of Goldenwest Street, Smith reports.
"The driver was taken into custody without incident" at that time, according to Smith. The as-of-yet-unidentified driver was taken to an area hospital for medical clearance.

"There are no reported injuries to the suspect or the officers involved in this incident," Smith says. California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
