HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — An 18-year-old woman was last seen close to midnight Tuesday near the Huntington Beach Pier. Over 24 hours later, the U.S. Coast Guard Wednesday suspended its ocean search for a missing swimmer near the Huntington Beach Pier. Fog hampered the search, as helicopters worked to find her.
Jessy Cook, 18, was last seen about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday when she was seen sitting at the end of the pier, according to reports. Moments later, she was gone, however some of the teen's belongings were reportedly left on the pier. A multi-agency search was initiated, the U.S. Coast Guard reported.
The search was suspended about 10:30 a.m., the agency reported.
