Serious Crimes In Seal Beach Have Dropped Since 2020: Report
When it comes to theft, robberies and serious crimes all have dropped in the past 12 months according to the Seal Beach Police Department.
SEAL BEACH, CA — Crime, particularly serious crime, is down in the city of Seal Beach, officials say. According to a recent report based upon the FBI's Uniform Crime Report standards, The City of Seal Beach shows that serious crimes are down by 11 percent over the past year.
Notably, officials say that robberies are down 25 percent and theft is down 12 percent.
Seal Beach City Manager Jill Ingram discussed how the community's safety is of the highest concern for the City Council and all City staff.

"I am proud of this drop in crime and the hard work of Chief Gonshak and the men and women of the Seal Beach Police Department," Ingram said in a recent release.
The Seal Beach Chief of Police Philip Gonshak shared how the goals of the police department are to drive down crime and improve the quality of life for area residents.

"Our goal is for residents, visitors, and businesses to feel safe and secure in this community," Gonshak said. "Although there are several factors that influence crime rates, we know that this reduction of crime is likely related to having more officers on the street, the enhancement of our crime-fighting technology, and the efficiencies created as a result of the recent Police Department Reorganization plan. None of this could have been possible without the support of the City Manager, City Council, and City staff."
