Sewage Spill Closes North OC Beach

A sewage spill closed parts of Huntington Beach Tuesday.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - A sewage spill forced county officials Tuesday to shut down ocean access to a portion of Huntington Beach.

The spill was first noticed about 10 a.m. Sunday, but wasn't reported to county officials until about 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to Anthony Martinez of the OC Health Care Agency.

About 5,000 gallons of sewage flowed into the ocean due to a private sewer lateral blockage, Martinez said.
