Signing Day for Los Alamitos High School Student Athletes
On Wednesday, Nov. 9, Los Alamitos High School celebrated signing day for area students. 14 student athletes signed intent letters.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Letters of Intent were signed by Los Alamitos High School seniors on Wednesday, according to Dr. Brandon Martinez, Los Alamitos High School Principal
"Fourteen Los Alamitos High School students signed National Letters of Intent, indicating the college or university they will attend in the fall of 2017," Martinez said.
Of the 14 participants, 11 signed letters to play softball, including:

- Ryan Denhart (University of Maryland)
- Allie Englant (Ohio University)
- Andrea Gonzalez (Iowa State University)
- Mary Iakopo (University of Oregon)
- Caitie Ladd (Michigan State University)
- Allisha Martinez (Regis University)
- Michele Ota (UC San Diego)
- Alexa Schultz (University of Oklahoma)
- Cami Sellers (Boston College)
- Cierra Valenzona (Cal State Dominguez Hills)
The other signees were as follows:
- Siobhan Quirke for rowing (University of Central Oklahoma)
- Calysa Toledo for water polo (UC Irvine)
- Chris Rubottom for baseball (Wofford College)
"Over 1,000 people attended the event, including family, friends, teachers, counselors, school administrators, and Los Alamitos School Board President, Karen Russell," Martinez said. "The Los Al Marching Band performed as attendees arrived and at the moment all of the students signed their letters of intent."
