What is happening at that old, closed Catholic Church on Katella? Quite a lot actually! The non-profit that has been trying to save the site from the wrecking ball (who needs another parking lot or medical building) recently purchased the Plaza from the Catholic Church.
Now that we own the property we can move forward with our plans to make the Plaza the center for culture, arts and community services in Los Alamitos.
The Chapel which was built in in 1926 and then rebuilt in 1935, after the Long Beach Earthquake, has been reopened as a non-denominational chapel - the Chapel at the Plaza. It is available for weddings or other events.
Thursday nights, we host our Picnic at The Plaza. Food trucks, live music and a beer and wine bar set in a family friendly, casual atmosphere. Come by and tour the historic chapel!
