Suspected Car Thief Shot By Police Following Pursuit In North OC
A passenger in the car was arrested after police used a spike strip to end the chase.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA ā A man in a stolen car was fatally shot by police in Huntington Beach early Thursday morning, officials said. Police pursued the stolen vehicle across Orange County at approximately 12:30 a.m. As the car approached the intersection of Palm Avenue and 12th Street, officers used spike strips to disable the vehicle.
"The man and woman fled from the vehicle and an officer-involved shooting occurred," Angela Bennett of the Huntington Beach Police Department said.
The man, whose name has not been released, was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital, where he later died. The woman was taken into custody, she said, adding that a gun was discovered at the scene.

No officers were injured during the incident and police are investigating the shooting.
