Swell Weather Coming Monday, Tuesday In Seal Beach
The National Weather Service released a Beach Hazard statement for Orange County beaches. Expect waves over 7-feet at times, the NWS said.

SEAL BEACH, CA ā High surf and strong rip currents will return to Orange County beaches in the early part of the week, the National Weather Service said. The Beach Hazards statement was in effect from Monday, Dec. 17 to Tuesday evening, Dec. 18.
"A large, long period northwest swell from 290 degrees will move into the coastal waters early Monday," a NWS spokesperson told us. Waves and surf between 5- to 8-feet, with locally higher sets possible at all beaches.
High surf and strong rip currents will be present at all Orange County beaches Monday morning through Tuesday evening. Swell and surf expected to gradually lower late Tuesday.

* Impacts...Increased risk of drowning due to elevated surf and strong rip currents. Sneaker waves and other hazards can create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone.

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong rip currents. Expect elevated surf heights, minor tidal overflow is possible at local beaches.

Obey posted warning signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming. Use caution when in or near the water and always swim near a lifeguard.
