Ted Cruz to Rally Supporters in Orange County Monday

GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz will hold a rally at an Irvine hotel Monday followed by an appearance on "John and Ken."

IRVINE, CA - Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is scheduled to hold a rally in Irvine on Monday on behalf of his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in his second visit to Southern California in 13 days.

Cruz is also scheduled to appear on "John and Ken" on KFI-AM (640) at 3 p.m.

The rally at the Hotel Irvine is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. RSVPs are no longer being accepted on the Eventbrite website because it has reached its capacity.

Both of Cruz's opponents for the Republican nomination are scheduled to campaign in New York on Monday in advance of its April 19 primary. Businessman Donald J. Trump is scheduled to hold a nighttime rally in Albany and Ohio Gov. John Kasich plans to hold town hall meetings in Troy and Saratoga Springs.

After winning all 13 delegates at stake Saturday at the Colorado Republican Party State Convention, the 45-year-old Cruz issued a statement declaring, "This election is about the hope that our children can still have a more promising landscape of opportunity than generations past.

"It's about bringing together Americans from all backgrounds who know that we will be stronger, more prosperous, and infinitely more free if we return power in Washington back to the people. So that Americans are free to create better jobs, live and worship freely, and once again proudly defend 'the last best hope of Earth."'

Cruz, who would be the nation's first Hispanic president, was last in the Southland March 30-31, appearing on the ABC late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "John and Ken" and holding a fundraising luncheon in Newport Beach.
