Car Slams Concrete Divider, Kills Teen In Westminster Tuesday

An 18-year-old woman was killed after the car she was traveling in crashed into concrete barricades in Westminster on Tuesday.

WESTMINSTER, CA — An 18-year-old woman was killed and three others were injured after the car they were traveling in crashed in a construction zone in Westminster Tuesday.

Orange County firefighters were called to the scene near Westminster Boulevard and Rancho Road a little before 9:40 p.m., authorities said, and found the car "teetering" on top of the concrete barricades over a trench in a construction zone, Westminster police Cmdr. Kevin MacCormick told the Orange County Register.

The woman was only identified as a Huntington Beach resident, he said. The three injured people inside of the car were taken to local trauma centers, the Orange County Fire Authority reported. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The crash prompted authorities to close the intersection for several hours Tuesday night.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Westminster Police Department.
