SEAL BEACH, CA — A total of 31 short-term rental property permits have been added to the conditional use permits for vacation rentals in the city of Seal Beach and another 15 property owners are waiting to see if their homes will also be approved for short-term rental applications, according to a recent report from Sun Newspapers.

A long-standing ban on vacation rentals was lifted in September, according to the city, after a court ruling declared the ban was overturned in the fall of 2022. A short-term rental, as defined by the city, is a home that is available to rent for under 30 days at a time. All rental guests must follow the city's "good neighbor" guidelines, and no parties or weddings are to be held at the locations, according to the city.

The lottery drawing for short-term rental permits was held on May 10, and the wait-listed home list was added in hopes of expansion to the number of short-term rental properties within the city.
