Father Stabs Two Children To Death Inside Placentia Home: Cops

Police arrived at a grisly murder scene at this Orange County home, where a father stabbed his two daughters cops say.

PLACENTIA, CA —A Placentia neighborhood awoke to police lights and sirens as emergency officials responded to a grisly crime scene.

Inside a home on Brookhaven and Swanson Avenues, police found two young girls who were stabbed to death by their father, who then stabbed himself, officials say. The father's body was found—with what is thought to be self-inflicted stab wounds—across the street from a home in the apparent murder-suicide.

Placentia Police Sgt. Bryce Angel told reporters that the scene inside the home was "horrific."

"My heart goes out to the family," Angel said. "This is just a tragic situation for this whole community."

Officers with the Placentia Police Department responded to a home near Brookhaven and Swanson avenues, north of Bastanchury Road, about 1 a.m.
The two young girls, believed to be twins, were found in the home's living room. Their father's body was located on a sidewalk across the street from the house, police said.

"It is extremely tragic for the family," Angel said. "It's just one of those things that we hate to see. We're trying to get to the bottom of this, why it happened."
The media is reporting the mother was inside the home when the attack occurred.

Angel said crisis counselors were made available to relatives of the victims.
The names of the victims were not disclosed.
