2,000 Pounds Of 4th Of July Fireworks Seized From Los Alamitos Area Home

In a 4th of July bust, the Buena Park Police Department says they found more than a ton of fireworks.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — This alleged fireworks hoarder was busted courtesy of the Buena Park Police Department. And a neighbor's fireworks complaint led to the seizure, according to the agency.

Over 2,000 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized at a Buena Park residence on the Fourth of July, police announced Wednesday.

About 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers went to the 8700 block of Fillmore Circle "regarding a fireworks complaint," said Buena Park police Sgt. Mike Lovchik.

"The investigation led to the discovery of large cache of illegal fireworks within the residence," Lovchik said. "The initial estimate is over 2,000 pounds of fireworks, with a street value of several thousand dollars."

The Orange County Sheriff's Department's bomb squad was sent to the scene to assist in removing the fireworks. No injuries were reported.

"The residents were cooperative (and) there were no immediate arrests, pending further investigation," Lovchik said.
