Volunteer Myra Merritt Honored by Girl Scouts

Orange County youth and adults were presented with prestigious awards for their accomplishments and their volunteer service to Girl Scouts of Orange County at a luncheon at the Disneyland Hotel on June 7.

Seal Beach resident Myra Merritt was presented with an Appreciation Pin, which recognizes volunteers who have delivered outstanding service in support of Girl Scouts. Myra has remained committed to her volunteer role in Seal Beach even after moving to Redlands, traveling back and forth for meetings and events. She has been instrumental in bringing more STEM activities to her service unit and others in her area. She also started workshops to teach girls essential skills like self-defense, team-building, anti-bullying, and public speaking. Myra even obtained grant money to purchase camping equipment.

Girl Scouts also recognized 150 girls from throughout Orange County who earned the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout may earn.
