Water over Vodka

I went to a shin-dig at my friend’s house last Saturday and it was just one of those days where I dreaded the thought of drinking alcohol.  I felt like I needed to take a break from alcohol to replenish the water loss in my body.  I made the mistake of suggesting a friendly game of water-pong instead of beer-pong.  Of course, my friends broke into hysterical laughter like a pack of hyenas.  For the rest of the night I was known as 'good ole grandpa!'

Although my friends did not agree with my water-pong idea, I am sure Bobby Boucher from the Waterboy would have been on my side.  Water is said to be the most essential nutrient your body needs.   I told my friends that bone is more than 20 percent water, muscle is 75 percent water, and teeth are about 10 percent water.  Basically, your body weight is made up of 45-75% water.  “Hahaha grandpa!” is the response I got.  I gave it another shot and said that water participates in many chemical reactions, but of course my friends didn’t care.

I wasn’t completely being serious about playing water-pong so I wasn’t mad at my friends but it did seem like a good way to hydrate myself at the time.  If I drank enough water during the day like I should then I would be laughing too if someone suggested water-pong as a source of entertainment for young adults.  However, I am sure Bobby Boucher would have gladly been my water-pong partner!
