What's the Best Pie at Thanksgiving? Orange County Families Weigh In

A poll of 300 families in Orange County revealed the best pie to serve at Thanksgiving dinner. These are the best pies to serve this year.

SEAL BEACH, CA — Thanksgiving dinner is never complete without a dessert table heavily laden with pies and other sweet treats. We wanted to know what pie you would be serving to your family this Thanksgiving when the coffee's brewing and the dishes are being cleared,

But what is the best pie to have? Many hosts don't want a ton of sweets left over after the big meal. A random Facebook emoji poll of mothers engaged our readers to share their favorite pie from a list of:

  • Pumpkin
  • Apple
  • Pecan
  • Cherry

If those didn't fit the bill, readers opted for the categories of:

The winner for Orange County was revealed by a mile.

Pumpkin topped the charts as the must-have pie at your Thanksgiving dinner, followed at a distant second by apple and pecan. Orange County resident Robin Thrasher makes all of her own pies, but pecan is her favorite.

Pie haters and lovers of desserts other than pie chimed in, followed by the fans of French silk, sweet potato pie and pumpkin cheesecake lovers who weren't sure how to classify this delicious delicacy.

Cherry pie is last on the list, with only nine votes for this fruity treat.

Should you buy your pie or bake it? Readers suggested that Costco and Marie Callender's were neck-and-neck as the best and easiest pies to bring along for the dessert table. In Orange County, the ability to stop by Knott's Berry Farm for a pie, specifically apple, was highly recommended by Orange County mom, Sayuri Raftogianis,

"I love apple and pumpkin pie," she said. "Knott's Berry Farm's apple pie is the best, because it's not too sweet. We also love Marie Callender's pumpkin pie, smothered with fresh whipped cream."

If you are a boysenberry pie fan, pick up your handcrafted pie at Knott’s Berry Farm made with their famous boysenberries. Don't have time to stop by the park for anything but pie? Don't worry. The Knott's Berry Farm bakery is located just outside of the famed southern California theme park. Located in the marketplace, no theme park ticket is necessary to dine or shop there. Free one-hour parking is available for guests, with two additional hours of complimentary parking with proof of purchase from shops and restaurants.

Ordering in advance from Cheesecake Factory, Costco, Knott's or Marie Callender's will make sure they have what you're looking for, including this year's newly offered Marie Callender's Caramel Pecan Pumpkin Mousse pie, drizzled with caramel which is creamy, dreamy and delicious.

And you can thank us later for that one.

Happy Thanksgiving week!
