SEAL BEACH, CA — Christmas Eve falls on a Friday, and Christmas Day is Saturday. In Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor and across Orange County, this is a shortened workweek for many. Students are on break the entire week in many districts across the Southland.

Some services are closed for Christmas Eve (Friday, Dec. 24). Other closures will begin on Thursday, Dec. 23 and continue through the weekend.

Residents should prepare for additional closures the following week around New Year's Eve on Friday, Dec. 31.

Here are some closures to know around Christmas in 2021.

Government offices: Closed on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Public Library: All locations closed on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

Transit: All OCTA Buses will run on Sunday/Holiday schedules Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Post Offices: Closed on Saturday, Christmas Day.

Trash collection and street sweeping services will be delayed a day, according to CR&R and Waste Management OC.

Certain grocery chains are open while the majority will be closed for the holiday. You might be able to make a CVS run or purchase your favorite hot drink at Starbucks.

In Orange County, here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open, along with a list of those that won’t:

• Albertsons: Stores will be open on Christmas Eve and close between 4-9 p.m. Some stores will be closed on Christmas while others will be open for limited hours. Call ahead to your preferred location to confirm hours.
• Aldi: Stores will be open Christmas Eve, but hours will vary by location; closed on Christmas Day.
• Costco: Some stores will be open for limited hours on Christmas Eve, and all stores will be closed on Christmas Day. Call ahead to confirm hours with your local store.
• CVS: Many locations, including those open 24 hours, will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; however, some pharmacies may have reduced hours or be closed for the holiday. Customers are encouraged to call ahead to confirm hours at their preferred locations.
• Pavilion’s: Stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
• Ralphs: Stores will close early on Christmas Eve, and some locations will be open for limited hours on Christmas Day. Call ahead to your preferred location to confirm hours.
• Rite Aid: Most locations will be open Christmas Eve, and select stores will be open Christmas Day; however, hours will vary. Call ahead to confirm.
• Sam’s Club: Stores will be open until 6 p.m.on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.
• Target: Most stores will close at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores are closed on Christmas Day.
• Trader Joe’s: All stores will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Stores are closed on Christmas Day.
• Walgreens: Walgreens stores will be open during regular business hours on Christmas Eve. Pharmacy hours vary by location. On Christmas Day, most Walgreens stores will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Twenty-four-hour Walgreens locations and 24-hour pharmacies will remain open.
• Walmart: Stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores are closed on Christmas Day.
• Whole Foods: Stores will be open on Christmas Eve, but hours will vary by location. Call ahead to your preferred store to confirm hours. All stores are closed on Christmas Day.
