Woman Arrested In Mother's Murder

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Cynthia Strange, a 64-year-old Irvine resident, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murdering her 92-year-old mother, Ruth Strange, Huntington Beach Police reported Tuesday.

Police performed a welfare check on Sept. 4 and discovered Ruth Strange deceased in her residence.

"Upon entry, officers discovered Ruth Strange deceased at the residence, and detectives immediately began investigating the death due to suspicious circumstances,” according to a statement from the Huntington Beach Police Department. “Over the course of the next four weeks, detectives developed information and evidence leading to a suspect."

Cynthia Strange was being held in Huntington Beach jail on suspicion of murder, the Orange County Register reported. No bail had been set.
