Alaska - the Last Frontier

No. 1 destination at present. Breathtaking scenery, wonderful choice of ships and prices, great family holiday

ALASKA – THE LAST FRONTIER

Alaska is the No.l. cruise destination at present and it is a wonderful choice. I have been nine times, on different ships, and enjoyed all of them. For people who say, I went on a cruise once and didn’t like it. My answer is, you went on the wrong cruise line. If you book now for 2018 you will benefit from the early bird discount.

You can sail out of San Francisco,
Seattle or Vancouver
and I have tried them all.

If you don’t want to fly then do a round trip voyage. There is a wide price range, so it fits all budgets. I enjoyed going on the train to Seattle, a lovely overnight journey, and then getting on the ship if you don’t want to fly.

Alaska
is one of those rare and magical places that stirs the imagination and inspires
the soul. Experience this breathtaking
region for yourself and do try and pay the difference and get a cabin which has
a balcony. This is a casual
destination. No dressy events, and
everyone is in sweaters, jeans and parkas.
The cruises start in May and go until October. You will need gloves, hat and scarf if you go
on one of the early cruises. I have
clients who never go to the dining room or other restaurants for dinner. They order from the menu and dine in their
cabin and watch a movie.

The ultimate adventure is to take a few extra days after your cruise and visit Denali
National Park on a train tour, or the Yukon, or Fairbanks
to see the Northern Lights. I’ve also
stayed extra days and explored Anchorage, or Seattle, or Vancouver and
gone over to Vancouver Island. There are lots of options.

You have a choice of over 200 different cruises, small with
300 passengers, to medium style with 600, and then up to 3000 passengers. Some have all shore excursions included and
the price can vary greatly. Your
travel consultant can do a comparison
for you so you know where the greatest value is and what route fits your
needs. This has been an amazing year
with bargains offered, two for one
cabin price, free airfare, etc. The bigger the ship, the more entertainment Some are better for families. All have great food, and many restaurants to
choose from.

Alaska has amazing art work, Indian crafts, jewelry, and you will find something you cant live without at one of the port of call. Prices are reasonable and unique.

I love to watch the eagles, the whales, dolphins, and the
sheer wilderness and beauty of the place.
Each port of call is different, and the choice of excursions are many
depending on what you want to see.
Great gardens to visit, and it is steeped in history.

The glaciers are definately shrinking, My husband usually goes on a fishing excursion and has the salmon he caught smoked, and shipped home.
