• Invasive, non-native mosquito species found in Los Altos (losaltosonline.com) — Residents in Los Altos are being warned about Aedes aegypti, an invasive mosquito newly detected in the city that can spread Zika, dengue, yellow fever and chikungunya. County vector control officials urge you to eliminate even tiny sources of standing water and report increased daytime mosquito bites so technicians can check for local breeding sites and help reduce the nuisance and health risks.
   

• Legendary investigative reporter explains the need to return to a responsible press (losaltosonline.com) — A long-running Los Altos lecture series, The Morning Forum, opened its 76th season with famed investigative reporter Lowell Bergman reflecting on the decline of responsible journalism and media regulation. The group continues to meet twice monthly at Los Altos United Methodist Church and also offers livestreams, giving local residents regular access to in-depth discussions on media, democracy and public interest reporting.
