Betty Latta: Knows Her Art
Betty Latta is an extraordinary art docent in the Los Altos School District, celebrating over 30 years of service.

When funding for art education vanished in the 1970s, a determined group of women set out to fill the void. They developed a volunteer program to teach art classes in elementary schools and trained others to do the same. Today the tradition continues with the Los Altos Art Docents who teach nearly 800 classes annually.
“The Los Altos Art Docent program was formed to provide a comprehensive, visual arts education for students of the Los Altos Elementary School District. Docents strive to create a sense of excitement about art and give students a platform for their creativity.” Kathy Bonte.
Betty Latta, shown here, is the longest serving Art Docent, currently starting her 39th year. Many docents have volunteered for over 15 years.
