Bicyclist Killed in Crash Near Los Altos ID'd as Jeffrey Donnelly

A bicyclist fatally struck by a car early Tuesday morning just outside of Palo Alto was identified Wednesday as 52-year-old Jeffrey Donnelly, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

Donnelly was riding a bicycle on westbound Page Mill Road near Christophers Lane and was hit by a black 2014 Volkswagen Golf heading in the same direction around 6:50 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel said.

Donnelly, a Palo Alto resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, Montiel said.

The Volkswagen driver, a 19-year-old Palo Alto man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the CHP, according to Montiel.

Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision, Montiel said.
